Kathryn Moss, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Missouri and a member of the NextGen Precision Health Initiative. Trained at the University of Michigan, Emory University, and Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Moss developed a strong foundation in molecular neuroscience and translational neuromuscular research that informs her integrative approach to studying peripheral nerve disease, with a particular focus on Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease (CMT). Her work is distinguished by its emphasis on foundational mechanisms that drive disability, rigorous cross-scale experimental design, and a commitment to questions with clear relevance to patient function. Her perspective is further informed by lived experience as a CMT patient, reinforcing her dedication to rigorous, patient-centered research. As a leader, collaborator, and mentor, Dr. Moss is committed to building inclusive, multidisciplinary research programs that advance discovery while training the next generation of scientists in impactful neuroscience. Her work has received national recognition from organizations including the CMT Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
