Andrea Sierra Delgado, MD

Assistant Research Professor

Andrea Sierra Delgado, MD, is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Missouri and a member of NextGen Precision Health. Trained at Universidad Industrial de Santander, Universidad de Los Andes and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Dr. Sierra Delgado leads translational research programs focused on rare and ultra-rare neurodevelopmental, neuromuscular and central nervous system disorders, including epilepsy and autism spectrum conditions. Her work integrates patient-derived neuronal and glial systems, AAV-based gene delivery, and preclinical disease models to develop next-generation therapeutic strategies for complex neurological disease. In parallel, Dr. Sierra Delgado investigates drug repurposing and combination-based therapeutic approaches to identify complementary treatment strategies for rare neurological disorders. By combining molecular neuroscience, translational disease modeling and clinical insight, her research aims to accelerate the development of clinically meaningful therapies for patients with limited treatment options.
